Japanese Apricot Protection Against Helicobacter Pylori-induced Glandular Stomach Lesions in Mongolian Gerbils

چکیده
Helicobacter pylori (Hp) is a major causative factor for gastric disorders and epidemiological evidence has accumulated indicating a significant relationship with chronic active gastritis, peptic ulcer, atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, and lymphoma or cancer development (Marshall and Warren, 1984; Nomura et al., 1991; Uemura et al., 2001). In 1994, the World Health Organization/ International Agency for Research on Cancer concluded that Hp is a ‘definite carcinogen’ based on the epidemiological findings (IARC Working Group on the Evaluation of Carcinogenic Risks to Humans, 1994). Eradication diminishes enhancing effects of Helicobacter pylori infection on glandular stomach carcinogenesis in Mongolian gerbils.
To investigate the nature of the link between Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and stomach carcinogenesis, a study of the glandular stomach of Mongolian gerbils (MGs) was performed. MGs were treated with N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU), followed by inoculation with Hp (groups 1 and 2) or without Hp (group 3), or infected with Hp (groups 4 and 5) or inoculation without Hp (group 6) followed by MN...
متن کاملHelicobacter suis Causes Severe Gastric Pathology in Mouse and Mongolian Gerbil Models of Human Gastric Disease
BACKGROUND "Helicobacter (H.) heilmannii" type 1 is the most prevalent gastric non-H. pylori Helicobacter species in humans suffering from gastric disease. It has been shown to be identical to H. suis, a bacterium which is mainly associated with pigs. To obtain better insights into the long-term pathogenesis of infections with this micro-organism, experimental infections were carried out in dif...
متن کاملHelicobacter pylori Infection Enhances W-Methyl-./V-nitrosourea-induced Stomach Carcinogenesis in the Mongolian Gerbil
No previous report has demonstrated the relationship between Helico bacter pylori (HP) infection and gastric carcinogenesis in an experimental animal model. A total of 170 male Mongolian gerbils (MGs) were divided into nine groups (18 S n S 20 for each group). MGs of four groups were inoculated with HP before or after continuous A'-methyl-A'-nitrosourea (MNU) administration via the drinking wat...
متن کاملHelicobacter pylori infection enhances glandular stomach carcinogenesis in Mongolian gerbils treated with chemical carcinogens.
Helicobacter pylori (Hp) is thought to be a stomach carcinogen from epidemiological findings. To determine the effects of infection with the bacteria on experimental carcinogenesis, a study of the glandular stomach of Mongolian gerbils (MGs) was performed. Male MGs were treated with N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine followed by inoculation with Hp or infected with Hp followed by N-methyl-N'-...
